Build the menu around a story
The best event drinks menus say something about the occasion: the couple's first trip, a brand's home town, the season, the venue. Name serves after moments, places or people.
A menu shape that works
Welcome serve: something light and quick to pour, such as a spritz or sparkling wine with a local cordial.
Two signature cocktails: one bright and citrus-led, one richer and spirit-forward.
A local beer or cider, a red and a white wine, and one considered alcohol-free cocktail that is as good as the rest.
Work with local producers
Scottish gins, craft breweries, cider makers and small-batch distillers bring flavour and conversation. Producers can often host a tasting moment or tell their story at the bar.
Seasonal inspiration
Spring and summer: elderflower, rhubarb, strawberries, garden herbs, chilled highballs.
Autumn and winter: apple, pear, smoked salt, spiced syrups, warm toddies and whisky serves.
Keep it pourable
Batch cocktails ahead where possible. A beautiful drink that takes four minutes to make will cost you the room at peak times.
